Chris K and his friends are "old goats," hence the name GOATZ! They've been around a while, kicking dirt, eating cans, that sorta thing.
Originally formed in 2003 with his wife Pattie, Chris took a break from performing for several years before reforming the band in 2015. Miss Pattie, aka Mrs Goat, passed away in February 2016 from metastatic melanoma. Goat and his friends decided to keep the music going.
Chris has been at this since the '70s, performing across the US, and in Canada and Great Britain, playing in direct support of Guy Clark, Jim Lauderdale, Cross Canadian Ragweed, Reckless Kelly, the Railbenders and others. He was a founding member of the 90s era Southern-rock jam band Alien Cowboy in Fort Collins.
Chris is also the founder and president of Rocky Mountain Music Network LLC; the producer and host of the syndicated radio program, “Chris K's Colorado Playlist,” heard on a number of stations statewide; and an on air host at 105.5 The Colorado Sound in Northern Colorado.
Goatz! has performed at Bohemian Nights @ New West Fest, Carbon Valley Music & Spirits Festival, FOCOMX, Fort Collins Peach Festival, Yarmonygrass, the Mishawaka Amphitheatre, Avogadro's Number, Oskar Blues, Ophelia's Electric Soapbox and other regional venues, events and festivals.
The band performs as an acoustic trio or quartet at several regional breweries and brew pubs, including the Tasty Weasel (Longmont), Red Truck Beer Beer Company (Fort Collins), Broken Plow Brewery (Greeley) and Woods Boss Brewing (Denver) to name a handful.
The band performs from a catalog of songs written and/or recorded by Merle Haggard, John Fogerty, Tom Russell, Chris Stapleton, John Mellencamp, Dave Alvin, Rodney Crowell, and others, as well as original songs written by Chris and his late wife Pattie.
Chris Jackowski (guitars/vocals) has been playing in Northern Colorado since arriving here from Ohio in the 80s. Chris J and Chris K have been playing together since the 90s. Chris is known for playing with popular classic rock cover bands and blues bands in Fort Collins, including the Blender Cats and Fat Sow. He has also appeared regularly with Northern Colorado based singer-songwriter Scott Allen.
Janeen Bogue (stand-up bass/vocals) A regular on the bluegrass jam scene, Janeen has been honing her skills with Colorado bluegrass legend Jerry Mills. Janeen joined Goatz March 2016.
Jackson Earles (fiddle, mandolin) At only 15 years old, Jackson is one of the most accomplished string instrument players, a student of both award winning Sally Van Meter and Enion Pelta-Tiller. Jackson was invited to join the band in April 2018.
Mike Ray (drums) Mike has been with the band since 2015, when we formed the new lineup. He's one of the most well respected and called up drummers in the Denver scene - playing with everyone from Americana artist Adam Lopez to blues-rocker Cass Clayton.
Oscar DeZoto (drums) Oscar is well known in the Northern Colorado / Fort Collins music scene for his work in the trad-jazz band Poudre River Irregulars, and other projects.
